What is the first step in the impeachment process for removing a president from office?

(1) conducting a trial by the Supreme Court

(2) holding a hearing before the full Senate

(3) replacing the president with the vice president

(4) bringing charges against the president by the House of Representatives|||Why would you want to impeach Obama?|||Unfortunately, 4.

I mean, given the current make up of the House.

The G20 resolution Obama agreed to is clearly against the Constitution, but can you see Pelosi impeaching him for violation of his oath of office?

And yes, not impeaching Bush was a bad precedent, and Pelosi was the one who said that was 'off the table'. Fancy that. Our government LIKES to be able to violate the Constitution without policing itself, it would seem|||(4) Establishing detailed findings of infringement of the US Constitutional mandates and presenting them to the US Justice Department and the US House of Representatives.

This is the first step in the process. Refer to the case of US vs President Richard M. Nixon.|||None of those steps are first, the first step is to actually determine whether a crime was committed that would provide the impetus for the impeachment process to proceed. Then, if such grounds existed, the charges would be brought before the House (4).|||(4) Good luck with your homework.
