Can an American citizen petition for impeachment?

All those who willfully broke the constitution, can a citizen petition for their impeachment?|||You can petition your Congressman. The House of Representatives has sole power of impeachment for federal officers. If they vote to impeach, that person then stands trial in the Senate.

.|||Depends on what you mean by "petition." You are free to write letters but only congress can vote on articles of impeachment of federal officials, and only the senate can try the case. As to state officials, each state has different laws on the subject. For federal officials, impeachment is available only for crimes, not for disregarding your interpretation of the constitution.|||You can petition your Representative for impeachment, sure.

But you need to understand that in this context, petition means "request" and not "a document signed by citizens demanding change." It's still up to your congressman whether or not he'll support impeachment.|||Yes.

Except for the President. Only the House can draw up Articles of Impeachment against the President.|||yes but it won't happen because that would be wrong to impeach someone for no reason

plus congress would have to have a 2/3 vote

answer mine?

http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20091109124319AAVsdVE%26amp;r=w|||You can petition for whatever you want. It's your constitutional right.|||If you mean Bush,
